Graham Manvell is a world renowned chef, culinary judge and an inspiring entrepreneur with incredible passion. He started his apprenticeship in Australia and has worked around the globe in the London Savoy, the Sebel Townhouse, Mount Lofty House and Powerhouse International. The founding Secretary of the Australian Culinary Federation and a director of the NSW Restaurant and Caterers Association, Graham’s career achievements are remarkable and his passion to share his knowledge and skills is infectious.

A member of the highest-ranking Australian team to compete in the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Graham won a gold medal in the coveted "Restaurant of Nations" section. He has also won prestigious international medals in Germany, Luxembourg and Singapore and has over thirty National Culinary Competition medals.

In August 1990, Graham and his wife Marlene established Jumbuck Cottage in Tamworth NSW. With Graham’s culinary skills and Marlene’s international background in professional hospitality, the popular 4 Star Guesthouse became the place for fine food, wine and excellent service.
The sale of the guesthouse enabled the Manvell’s to start their successful sSs BBQ Barn steakhouses and begin to realise their dream of operating a chain of restaurants. The concept was to cater for a very broad market with the strategy that people from all walks of life will feel welcome at sSs.

The first of the saloons opened as ‘Stetson’s Steakhouse Saloon’ November 1993 in Tamworth NSW, offering excellent customer service, superior dining, escapism , an unforgettable experience and paved the way for a chain of sSs BBQ Barns to open across Australia. In 2004, Graham and Marlene Manvell won the Themed Restaurant award at the Restaurant & Catering Australia Awards of Excellence.

In an industry where staff turnover is high and morale and satisfaction is often low, Graham and Marlene have focused on recruiting employees who can match their own values and passion. This has enabled them to implement development programs that now see their franchises being secured by individuals who have trained and matured within their own enterprises.
The Manvell enterprise consists of nine restaurants, a buffalo farm, a brewery and the latest addition - the Kitty Crawford Estate vineyard - situated in the beautiful Dungowan Valley near Tamworth. Here the couple holds private tastings, tours and talks with a difference.
